2011 Pinot Gris

Produced from 2 and 3 cane vines, the fruit for the 2011 Pinot Gris was hand harvested on 28th March 2011, at 23.9 brix, with T/A of 6.9 g/l. The grapes were gently whole bunch pressed to minimize phenolic pick up, followed by a long, slow and cool fermentation to retain primary fruit character and aromatics. 15% matured in aged Oak barrels, with both tank and barrell portions were matured on lees for 5 months.

The wine was finished and filtered prior to bottling in late November 2011.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of poached pears with jasmine flower and a waft of freshly baked biscuits. The palate is full of fresh juicy pear and layers of orange citrus that meld with warming spices, like cinnamon and cloves. Long, smooth finish with refreshing concentration.

Kina Cliffs Pinot Gris 2011 is the perfect partner to smoked salmon, blue cheese, roast pork and crispy duck. Enjoy now or within the next 4-5 years.
